Norse Store Copenhagen Denmark

The Norse Projects space is conceived as a landscape. The modular system accommodating garments and accessories appear as islands. Standalone objects, they have autonomy, arranged in a loose, linear composition they define an edge creating a space within. The central axis foregrounds low presentations surfaces. Composite recycled textile board, washed douglas fir, cold rolled steel, lexan and woven textile form the material palette. Together they are robust and harmonious in expression drawing on the brands dna.

Component parts are elemental in construction. Mechanical connections are preferred over welded or epoxy methods. Each is demountable and reconfigurable to prevent waste. Furniture elements have a robust visual language reinforced by a strong material character and structural logic. Consistency of form and method of assembly informs each individual piece within the furniture family. Laser cutting, welding and mechanical jointing of steel and timber elements draw on a visual language that is industrial and hand crafted. Consistency of form and method of assembly informs each individual piece within the furniture family. The payment console is constructed from lacquered cold rolled steel, mild steel plate and washed douglas board. Utilising laser cutting and welding techniques and mechanical jointing it draws on a visual language that is industrial and hand crafted. Framing is in cold rolled steel section, unmarked m12 bolts are counter sunk flush. The composition is seen as a lightweight framed structure enclosing lighter mild steel elements.

The shelving systems and display elements are robust in proportion, double square in both plan and elevational arrangement. Section size, weight and the detailing of mechanical fixings borrow from Poul Kjaerholm PK65, 63 and 62. Lightness and expediency of material use, evoke familiar references in Danish design,  this is balanced with a clarity and precision allowed by contemporary machining methods. Handmade and digital processes are utilised to ensure finish and robustness. The pieces are designed to be demounted and reconfigured for use in future spaces, ensuring minimal waste.
